The Janet Rothenberg Memorial Meet was held on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10 and 11. The competition was hosted by United Sports Academy in honor of Janet Rothenberg, an Abington Heights High School graduate, who passed away in July 2004.
Rothenberg was involved in gymnastics, and in her memory a scholarship is awarded to a senior at the event.
Rebecca Ellis from Rochester Gymnastics Academy in Rochester, NY won the Janet Rothenberg Memorial Scholarship of $1,200 this year.
Ellis has a 3.98 grade point average. She is also taking two AP courses and involved in many extra-curricular activites in school, just like Rothenberg.
