Forty-three high school students from Northeast Pennsylvania competed in the local Brain Bee held on February 9 at the University of Scranton. Joseph Caputo, a MMI Preparatory School sophomore, took first place, qualifying him to participate in the American Brain Bee at The University of Maryland in March. He was also awarded a $1,000 University of Scranton Scholarship and an additional $400 to help cover the cost of participating in the American Brain Been from Northeast PA AHEC. Second and third place winners Jonathan B. Schall, a junior from Wyoming Area High School, and senior Patrick Hricko from Scranton Preparatory School, won $50.
