The Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, will distribute Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers to eligible county residents at various locations through July 3. Distribution sites are Wednesday, July 2, West Side Senior Center, 1004 Jackson St., Scranton, 961-1592 and Thursday, July 3, Abington Senior Center, 1151 Winola Rd., Clarks Summit, 586-8996. Distribution begins at 9 a.m. and ends when the supply of available vouchers for each site is gone. Vouchers are extremely limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The state Department of Agriculture determines the number of vouchers that each county receives.
Vouchers can be obtained by an eligible resident or by a proxy for the resident. Proxies may only obtain vouchers for four individuals. Those serving as proxies for a spouse, neighbor, or friend must bring a signed proxy form to the distribution site. Proxy forms are available from the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, Third Floor, 200 Adams Ave., Scranton, 963-6740, ext. 1444. Forms are also available at or from any local Senior Community Center.
