AH student wins overall Russian Olympiada

Twenty-one Abington Heights High School students participated in the Delaware Valley Olympiada Competition of Spoken Russian at Temple University Philadelphia. Leah Farinola won the overall competition and will represent the American team in Moscow, Russia, this summer. The event culminated with medals awarded. Gold medal winners were Justin Sochovka and David Cochrane. Silver medalists were Colleen Kuzma, Ashley Novak, Cindy Bi, Victoria Tielebein, Anna Geary and Leah Farinola. Bronze medalists were Krista Matsko, Stephanie Elko, Rebecca Lynn, Roma Loboda, Hannah Woody, Zach Slonecker, Nick Mattise, Justin Steinman and Olivia Plantholt. Honorable mention recipients were Carmelo Pawelzik, Alex Accardi, Denis Loboda and Sasha Nelson.
