Todd Pregnar, a senior student of the Building Maintenance Technology program at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County has been awarded a silver medal at the SkillsUSA State Championships held in Hershey in early April 2008. SkillsUSA is a national leadership organization for career and technical education students. To reach the state level, Pregnar had to achieve a gold medal status at the district competitions held in January, 2008. In addition to his state silver medal, Pregnar also received $3,000 in college scholarships and power tools from the DeWalt Co.
During his five-hour state competition, Pregnar had to perform plumbing, electrical, masonry and building construction skills, in competition with nine other students from around the state of Pennsylvania.
A senior at Lakeland High School, Pregnar plans to attend Ohio Technical Institute upon graduation.
