In response to the fire that blazed through 1844 N. Main St. in Scranton this month, the Scranton Chapter is continuing to provide assistance to the evacuees that were displaced. As with all types of disasters, the Red Cross is working to help those affected with disaster-caused needs on a case-by-case basis. Red Cross assistance may include food, clothing, shelter, emotional support and referrals to other resources for victims. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. The American Red Cross Scranton Chapter responds to an average of 45 fires a year. It is possible to help the victims from the Providence blaze and thousands of other disasters across the county by making a financial gift to the Red Cross. To make a monetary donation: Send a contribution to the Scranton Chapter at 545 Jefferson Ave. Scranton PA 18510 or call 570-207-0109. The Red Cross honors donor intent. If you wish to designate your donation to a specific disaster please do so at the time of your donation.
