The Waverly Community House will host two six-week drawing/painting classes with instructor Barry Singer. The classes will be held on Thursday afternoons beginning March 18 in the Scout Room at the Comm. The first class, for young artists ages eight to 13, will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The second class, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., is offered to students age 14 or above. Registration, which includes all materials, is $75 for the six-week session.
The instructor, local artist Barry Singer, is the founder of the Art Room which was formed in 1994 when he saw the need for an art school for children. All students learn the basics of sketching. Then lessons in still life, landscape, portrait, and cartooning are taught. Techniques with pencil, markers, charcoal, pastels, ink, acrylic, and watercolors are demonstrated. Personal creativity is stressed.
Registration forms can be found on the website: or contact the Comm office at 570.586.8191, extension 2 if you wish to receive one in the mail. The Waverly Community House is located at 1115 North Abington Road in Waverly, Pennsylvania.
