Henry W. Smith, Falls Township, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Abington Manor Nursing Home. His wife was the former Jane Davis, the couple was married in July in 1955.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Clare Pleasure Smydkowski. He was a resident of Falls Twp. For the past 25 years. Prior to retirement, he was Machinist in the Cable shop for the former Western Electric, now AT and T, for 32 years. He was a Veteran in the Marine Corp. During World War II, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, receiving a Gold Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and the Clarks Summit V.F.W. Post 7069. Also surviving are three sons, William, Falls Twp.; Roy, Boston, MA and Henry, Stroudsburg; a daughter, Janet Pennella, Glenville, NY; five grandchildren, David, Sarah and Anthony Pennella, Jenna and Jonathan Smith.
A funeral service was to be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29 from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Debra Dailey, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glendale. To sign the online guest book, go to .
