State Senator Bob Mellow recently urged families with autistic children to view a new state Web site designed to help find answers to insurance coverage questions regarding autism spectrum disorder. The Web site, , was created to help inform families about Act 62, which was passed in July. This new law requires that private insurance companies provide coverage for children with autism spectrum disorder. Children younger than 21 years old are eligible for up to $36,000 in autism treatment. The benefits will be included in policies written or renewed on or after July 1, 2009.
