Applications are being accepted for the 2008/09 Leadership Lackawanna class. The 2008/09 class will mark the 27th year of the Leadership Lackawanna program, and more than 850 community leaders completed the program.
Leadership Lackawanna is a program that develops community leaders for the greater Scranton/Lackawanna County area. Begun in 1982 under the sponsorship of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Lackawanna seeks to identify leaders from various geographic, racial, ethnic, occupational and economic segments of the community. Through training, the program provides its participants with the ability to develop community leadership by understanding the problems, opportunities, and issues facing greater Scranton/Lackawanna County.
The Leadership Lackawanna program is a 10- month program that runs from September through June with weekday sessions held each month focusing on topics such as media, crime/corrections, economic development, and more. A selection committee will review applications and choose the 2008/09 class on the basis of demonstrated or potential leadership ability, interest in community affairs, and a desire for an increased commitment to community and professional service.
A variety of full and partial scholarships are available for qualified candidates. Applications may be obtained at or by writing to Leadership Lackawanna, P.O. Box 431, Scranton, PA 18501-0431.
