Three teams from Our Lady of Peace School, Clarks Green and three teams from Lackawanna Trail Junior-Senior High School were recognized for their stock picking expertise in the 2009-10 Stock Market Game competition conducted by The University of Scranton Center for Economic Education. The Stock Market Game is a ten-week simulation during which students from three grade categories invest an imaginary $100,000 by buying stocks listed on the major securities exchanges, New York, American and NASDAQ. Team rankings are based on final portfolio values. The University of Scranton hosts one of 14 Pennsylvania Centers for Economic Education, each of which conducts its own Stock Market Game competition. Teams that finished first, second and third in their grade categories, fall and spring, from the area served by the University of Scranton Center were recognized at a recent awards ceremony. The Stock Market GameTM of Pennsylvania is an Economics America program of Economics Pennsylvania, the state-wide affiliate of the regional centers.
