The United Methodist Church, located on the Morgan Highway hosted a costume party Nov. 5 in celebration of the Indian Festival of Lights known as Diwali.
Those in attendance were treated to a night of dinner and dance. According to Dr. Dipti Pancholy, an Abington resident, Hindus all over the world, about 1 billion, were worshipping the Goddess of Wealth and children were worshipping the Goddess of Knowledge.
Profits from the event benefited St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, Scranton.
