Abington Area, U of S offer pre-season baseball and softball clinics

The Abington Area Girls Softball League will be holding three clinics, open to all area girls, at Riverfront Sports in Scranton during the months of January and February. The clinics, designed for girls ages 5 to 14, will begin on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. and will focus on pitching and catching for girls ages 10 and up. Players ages 5 through 8 will work on fielding and throwing. On Saturday, Feb. 6, the clinic will cover fielding, throwing, sliding and base running for all ages from 4 to 6 p.m. The clinic scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, will focus on hitting. Cost of the clinic is $10. The clinics will be run by the high school and middle school baseball coaches and assisted by the varsity softball team, as well as returning graduates. The University of Scranton will hold its winter baseball clinics for boys and girls, ages eight to 13, on Saturday and Sunday, January 23, 24 and 30 and 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Byron Center.
