Time to welcome fall. For many, it’s the beginning of a new school year and new schedules. The Dalton Community Library will begin its fall schedule of activities as well as Sept. 9 marks the start of a new session of children’s programs we are so happy to offer.

Our children’s Story Time will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays. All children not yet in elementary school can attend. We will come together to listen to books, talk about weather, colors, numbers and the alphabet, work on an easy craft and certainly share some laughs. Story time is approximately 30 minutes long, but if we’re having fun and the children are able to keep going, Story Time may run about 45 minutes. The children love making friends and visiting the library. Stop in to check out the fun.

Also on Tuesdays is our after-school program, “Kid’s Crew” at 4 p.m. This fall, we will hold some new activities the kids are sure to enjoy. Our Kid’s Crew program gives the children an opportunity to feel comfortable trying new activities, working on crafts or projects as a group and engaging in kid-friendly discussions. Some weeks the activities are planned, other times the children get to vote on the upcoming week’s activities. We will have book discussions, do Lego building, make bracelets or possibly have a pretend newscast.

In past meetings, we’ve enjoyed sharing riddles, having comedy shows and talking about holidays and special family traditions. Kid’s Crew is always a happy time and if you’d like to find out where all the smiles are, stop in. This program is about one hour long and open to students in first through sixth grade. For additional information, email JFamiletti@albright.org.

Our busy adult groups will continue their schedules for the fall with Majong games at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, bridge games at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, adult book discussions monthly, as well as a memoir writing group. Conscious Conversation is held each week, excluding the first Tuesday of the month, which is when memoir writing is held. New members are always welcome and may call 570-563-2014 for more information.

Fall has many new beginnings at the Dalton Community Library, so stop in to join the fun. We welcome everyone during this colorful beginning to a new season. And, keep in mind with October just around the corner, our fall book and bake sale is quickly approaching. It will be held Oct. 18. Be sure to mark your calendar.
