The Century Club will sponsor a series of lectures entitled Landscapes: Artists and their Environment. The lectures are supported by a Lackawanna County Arts and Cultural Grant, a program of the Lackawanna County Commissioners and the Lackawanna County Council on the Arts, Culture and Education. All events are free and open to the public.
Lecture 1, Thinking about the Land will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., Dr. Josephine Dunn will present a brief history of Landscape painting seen through the eyes and sensibilities of artists. The slide presentation begins on the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs and concludes in Central Park. Lecture 2, Nature Perceived Through Two Sensibilities will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., Dr. Darlene Miller-Lanning will introduce the public to Cezanne and Gauguin, two contemporaries, each a landscape painter of 19th Century FranceFor additional information contact the Century Club at 342-0204.
