Fred Avery Colony

Fred Avery Colony, Clarks Summit, died Saturday, Oct.13 at home. His wife is the former Dorothy Weisenfluh. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next month. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Fred Avery and Lillian Jordan Colony. He attended schools in Scranton and graduated from Clarks Summit High School. A Naval Veteran, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a charter member of Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069 and was a member of the Masonic Waverly Lodge 301 F. and A.M. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot. Also surviving are two daughters, Cathy Decker, Scranton and Barbara Colony, Mays Landing, NJ; two grandchildren, Joseph and Christine Decker, both of Scranton. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Lou Colony. A funeral service was held October 16 at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home with services by Rev. Norman T. Faux. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Abington Hills Cemetery.
