The Little Sisters of the Poor and the Holy Family Residence of Scranton are celebrating their Centennial with a benefit bike ride and walk on the trail on Sunday, Sept. 30. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the ride or walk following at 10 a.m. The Sisters chose the D and H Rail-Trail and Forest City as a focal point, since their founding mission in this area involved caring for elderly coal miners. The Sisters care for the elderly poor in the area.
Residents are invited to join the Little Sisters and the Rail-Trail Council for a day of fun for the entire family. Those who pre-register will receive a T-shirt and be eligible to win a bicycle. Additional information, registration forms and pledge sheets are available from the Rail-Trail office at 785-7245 or from the Little Sisters at 343-4065.
