The Sisters of the Good Shepherd, in conjunction with the Lourdesmont Board of Directors, recently announced a new direction for the facility which allows for further use of agency resources to develop additional, much-needed services to youth and their families in Lackawanna and surrounding counties.
Currently, Lourdesmont provides a variety of day, community, and in-home services to more than 200 local youth and their families annually. This decision however calls for the agency to phase out its residential treatment service for adolescent girls. The small residential program served 20 girls, mostly from outside the county.
Staff impacted by the decision will be offered consideration as opportunities arise for which they are qualified.
