On May 5, the Voluntary Action Center will transform the Waverly Country Club, 903 S. Abington Road, Clarks Summit into Church Hill Downs. An early evening of Mint Juleps and Authentic Derby dinner, open bar, horse chances and prizes will start at 3 p.m. The Voluntary Action Center, Scranton will host this exciting event to raise money for the various organizations it funds. Live coverage of the Derby will be broadcasted, making the actual win an exciting event.
Put on your best Derby duds and finest hat and join in Saturday, May 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. Cocktails and munchies followed by dinner, mingling and race. Admission is $50 per person. Event sponsors are available for $1,000 and horse sponsorship is available for $150, which includes one admission.
Proceeds from this two-day event will go toward the programs of the Voluntary Action Center, which include: Volunteer Services Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters, FIRST, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, Tax Counseling for the Elderly, Drug & Alcohol Prevention Program, APPRISE/Telecenter, Christmas Holiday Bureau, Volunteers in Transition, SHINE, Board Bank, Detox Referral Program, Elder Abuse Prevention Program, and INFORM.
