Dorothy D. Thomas, Clarks Summit, died Thursday, August 9, at the Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of Oliver W. Thomas, who died in 1960. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Ruth Davis Dougherty. Ruth was a resident of Clarks Green since 1958. She worked as a private duty practical nurse for more than 30 years. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Moses Taylor School of Nursing, Class of 1939. A devoted mother and sister, she dedicated herself to all those in her care. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Thomas Norton and her husband Christopher E., Glenburn; a son, Oliver Grant Thomas, and Leslie Weiskerger, LaPlume; two sisters, Jean A. Dougherty and Marjorie D. Stauffer, both of Waverly; and a brother, Robert D. Dougherty, Scranton; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth L. Dougherty and a brother, George P. Dougherty, Jr. A private graveside service will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton, with services by the Rev. Virginia Miner, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna County.
