SCRANTON — Calista Marzolino won three events Monday to lead Abington Heights to the Class AAA girls championship at the Phil Tochelli Championship Meet for Lackawanna Track Conference junior high teams.
Marzolino won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.09 seconds, the triple jump with 31-10 ½ and the high jump by clearing 5-2.
Abington Heights outscored Valley View, 108-102, for the title.
The Lady Comets piled up points in the throws. Jill Bird won the shot put while also placing second in the discus. Natalie Kontz won the discus and was third in the shot put.
Erin Albright, Saide Henzes, Dani Beamish and Anna Marchetta won the 1600 relay.
Abington Heights was also third in the 3200 relay with the team of Sarah Bath, Kate Chickillo, Shayln Kobrynich and Maddie Show.
Bath was third in the 3200.
Scranton Prep was seventh out of nine AAA teams with 33 points.
Lackawanna Trail was ninth out of 12 teams in Class AA with 11 points.
The Abington Heights boys had four third-place finishes while placing sixth out of 10 Class AAA teams with 51 points. Scranton Prep was seventh with 49 points.
Marco Gabriel (110 hurdles), Chris Schimilfenig (400) and Kaleeb Sherman (200) took third along with the relay team of Mateen Kaseem, Corey Perkins, Christian Ragnacci and Mike Malone.
Lackawanna Trail was last among 11 Class AA boys teams with 9 ½ points.
Lakeland (AA boys), North Pocono (AAA boys) and Western Wayne (AA girls) won the other team titles.
