WAVERLY TWP. — What could be nicer on a beautiful May morning than a 3.1 mile run or walk through the scenic and historic village of Waverly? The Waverly Community House (Comm), 1115 North Abington Road, will offer just that opportunity.

Rain or shine, on Saturday, May 9, the Comm will hold its annual Waverly Waddle 5K Walk/Run. This year’s Waddle is a Mothers Day Race to honor mothers and caregivers. The event is co-chaired by Cheryl Farrell and Emily Karam.

Official registration includes electronic chip timing by Scranton Running Company, T-shirts will be awarded to the first 100 participants and eligibility awards. The race will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. on the back lawn of the Waverly Community House. The staff of Impact Physio will provide taping prior to the race and stretching exercises before and after.

Participants who register by May 6 receive a discount: $15 for adults and $8 for participants 12 years and under. After May 6, registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for participants 12 and under. A family rate for three or more participants is available for $35 in advance or $40 after May 6. All proceeds benefit recreation programs at the Comm.

A Junior Waddle, for children age 8 and under, will take place immediately following The Waddle. There is no registration fee for the Junior Waddle and all participants will receive a ribbon.

Medals will be awarded to first, second and third-place runners in age groups 50 plus, 40-49, 30-39, 19-29, 13-18 and 12 and under.
