James T. Graham, President of Graham Public Relations (GPR) announced on Sept. 9 that the firm, in honor of its 1-year anniversary in October, will set a goal to help raise $250,000 in its first year of business, and has chosen three local non-profit and charity organizations to be the benefactors.

The three charities chosen are The Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA, The KRW Foundation and the Lou Ruspi Jr. Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Awareness. These non-profits have one thing in common — they help children and teenagers in NEPA. Since its inception, GPR has helped raised $190,851 while planning, organizing, promoting and advertising almost 30 events locally.

“I was doing some fiscal year to date numbers and was simply going to write a case study on non-profit fundraising and how we as a company had helped,” said Graham in a news release. “When the numbers came in and we realized we were already at $190,000, I thought well, why not help raise $250,000 and why not help a few charities I consider to be very well run, by not being wasteful or admin heavy, and who help children and young adults. I’ve worked with all three of these organizations in the past and I know they are deserving.”

GPR is asking for support from community members by writing a check to The Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA, The KRW Foundation and the Lou Ruspi Jr. Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Awareness, and sending it to Graham Public Relations, 119 Penn Ave., Scranton Pa 18503. Any check written to GPR will be sent back. Or, donations can be made directly online at www.CACNEPA.org, www.KRWFoundation.org and www.louruspijrfoundation.com.

Sept. 10 was the kick-off day in honor of World Suicide Awareness Day.
