Marywood University will hold a collaborative program between the Counseling and Student Development Center and the Relationship and Empowerment (RAE) Task Force titled, “It’s On Us,” Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21. The free event will take place on the university’s campus.

On Monday, Nov. 17, red flags and posters will be placed on campus to educate the community about the significance of healthy relationships. The next day, a screening and group discussion of the movie “Mean Girls” is scheduled for 8 to 10:15 p.m. in the Comerford Theater, Center of Natural and Health Sciences. The “It’s On Us” Video Shoot and Launch Party will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 in t he Fireplace Lounge at the Nazareth Student Center.

The event will incorporate an online pledge with interactive tables containing information about the prevention of violence.

During the past several months, sexual assault in higher education has received increased national attention. “Its On Us” is a nationwide cultural movement aimed at fundamentally shifting the way people think about sexual assault.

The goal is to engage Marywood students, staff, and faculty, along with the outside community, by raising awareness and providing educational material to reinforce that everyone has a role to play in stopping sexual violence.
