The Borough of Clarks Green is eagerly counting down to the Centennial Celebration, which will take place over Memorial Day weekend.

Clarks Green Mayor Bill Thorburn officially declared May 24 and 25 Clarks Green Borough Centennial weekend during the monthly meeting on April 16.

“A lot has come together well,” the mayor said in regards to the progress of planning for the celebration.

The borough is selling 4” x 8” concrete pavers that will be placed around the base of the Centennial Clock to raise money for the celebrations surrounding the Centennial Weekend. The mayor said close to 70 pavers were sold thus far, and the opportunity for residents to buy pavers has been extended until the end of April.

Nearly $2,000 has been raised in donations, and the borough also received hundreds in gift card donations, according to Mayor Thorburn.

Council member Lynne Earley also announced that Clarks Green received a $500 grant from the Lackawanna County Municipal Arts and Culture for the Centennial Celebration.
