WILKES-BARRE — Sophie R. Malys, 88, passed away April 23, 2014 at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. She had family in Clarks Summit. Funeral services were April 28 from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Ss. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township.

PITTSTON — Helen Akulonis, 92, of Pittston, passed away April 25, 2014, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Akulonis, who passed away in 1999. She had family in Clarks Summit. Funeral services were April 28 from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, Stephenson Street, Duryea.
