Get ready to go back to school with these books from the Abington Community Library:

Picture book “First Day Jitters” by Julie Danneberg will surprise and delight readers when Sarah, who does not want to go to her first day of school, finally gets to her classroom.

“Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!” by Nancy Carlson follows Henry on his first day of kindergarten. Will he want to stay?

“The Night Before First Grade” by Natasha Wing follows in the tradition of the classic poem “The Night Before Christmas” as Penny gets ready for her first day of school. A new classroom means change, but it also might be an opportunity for new friends.

For young readers, try “Back to School, Mallory” by Laurie B. Friedman. Eight-year-old Mallory does not want to be the “new girl” in school after moving, especially since her mother is now the music teacher.

Check out some school humor in “Back-to-School Belly Busters” by Katy Hall and learn some new knock-knock jokes.

Is this a big year? Try “Navigating a New School” by Terry Teague Meyer to clear up confusion and questions.

Middle-schoolers will enjoy “Extra Credit” by Andrew Clement. As part of a school project, Abby writes a letter to a small school in Afghanistan, and so begins a long-distance friendship with Sadeed.

Read about Sylvia Mendez and her family’s fight for desegregation of the schools in “Separate is Never Equal” by Duncan Tonatiuh.
