Keystone basketball week in review

Women’s basketball

Gwynedd Mercy University built a 42-15 halftime lead after Keystone College struggled offensively in the first half of Monday night’s Colonial States Athletic Conference women’s basketball game and the Griffins cruised to a 86-54 victory over the Giants. Gwynedd Mercy improved to 7-8 overall on the season and 4-2 in conference play while the Giants slipped to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the CSAC after dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season.

That loss followed a 73-64 loss on Jan. 9 to Eastern University.

The Giants will travel to play Centenary College (N.J.) Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. They will host Cabrini College Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. and Cedar Crest College Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.

Men’s basketball

Trailing by two points at halftime, Gwynedd Mercy University outscored Keystone College 59-40 in the second half on their way to a 92-75 victory over the Giants in Colonial States Athletic Conference men’s basketball action on Monday, Jan. 13. The Griffins improve to 10-4 on the season and 6-1 in league play while the Giants fall to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the CSAC after suffering their fourth-straight game.

The Giants will host Cairn University Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center, Rosemont College Jan. 18 at 3 p.m., and Immaculata University Jan. 20 at 8 p.m.
