Prep runners place at state competition

The Scranton Prep girls finished second and the school’s boys team was third in the state Saturday at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in Hershey.

Both teams also produced one individual state medalist with top-25 finishes.

Erin Feeney was 17th to lead the Classics, who had a team score of 117, second to team champion Villa Maria from District 10 with 60.

Emily Carr missed a state medal by one place, taking 26th.

Ben Evans led the Cavaliers by taking eighth.

Abington Heights also had a Class AA girls medalist with a 20th-place finish by freshman Katie Dammer

District 2 accounted for 18 individual medals, including state champions Dominic Hockenbury from Lake-Lehman and Ally Rome from Dallas in Class AA.

The Elk Lake and Holy Cross girls finished second and third in Class A.
