Clarks Summit Borough recently celebrated the start of the holiday season in the downtown. The Lighting of the Trees, held the evening of Nov. 21, brought well-wishers from all over the Abington area.
I thank these people for coming out on the coldest night known to man. Also, the carolers who sang joyfully throughout the town. Groups from The Church of the Epiphany, Our Lady of Snows and Heritage Baptist Church provided an “old-fashioned” touch.
Opening the ceremony at Citizen’s Savings Bank was the Chorus from Baptist Bible College. Thanks to Citizen’s Savings for once again providing the venue for the Community Tree. This year the tree honors The Maria Family, donors of the land for the Pocket Park on Depot Street.
To be commended are John Reuther, CEO, Citizen’s Savings Bank; Jill Finnerty, senior vice president, Retail Banking and Lisa Bonacci, vice president, Human Resources and Marketing. Electrician and Designer Brent Schirg worked together with the volunteers from Heritage Baptist Church on the display.
Special thanks to Abington Financial. CEO Jamie Kresge and wife Maureen sponsored the traditional Christmas Tree at the clock tower. Thanks to your Ky Maria who with “one switch” lit up the town.
The borough building provided a perfect “warming station” for all who participated in the celebration. Over 150 gathered to enjoy refreshments. My thanks to Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, Rosario’s, Dino and Francesco and Gail Rees, president of Abington Business and Professional Association
