New members were elected Tuesday, Dec. 9 to the board of directors of the Dante Literary Society. The Dante Literary Society was founded nearly 100 years ago to help assimilate Italian immigrants into American culture and society by teaching English. Over the years, it has evolved into a social club that hosts events, dinners and community activities, allowing members to stay engaged and do charitable work.
