South Abington Township police arrested 18-year-old, William F. Stivala on Saturday, July 11 for his alleged involvement with a series of car thefts that occurred early last week in South Abington.
South Abington Township police had been investigating several thefts from parked vehicles that occurred during the overnight hours on July 6 in South Abington Township.
Waverly Police Chief Dan Mooney, who is working with Dunmore State Police on an investigation of several thefts of parked vehicles in Waverly that occurred the same night, said he believes the thefts are related.
Police were able to arrest Stivala after he was caught, on camera, allegedly trying to use one of the credit cards reported stolen from the vehicle thefts.
Officer Paul Wolfe of the South Abington Township Police Department said they believe Stivala did not work alone, and the case is still under investigation, with more arrests expected.
