Due to the constant freezing temperatures, employees of Sculpted Ice Works have been working on the first of two giant 40-foot ice slides that will be featured at Crystal Cabin Fever beginning Feb 13. This year Crystal Cabin Fever will be presenting Alaska-themed sculptures for the event. While popular elements, such as the slide and cabin are be recreated each year, new designs, such as an ice caribou and ice dog sled team display, are planned. Shown, clockwise: owner Mark Crouthamel and John Hedbavny, Sam Foster and Peter Fazio, work to fuse ice for the base of the first slide.
