James R. Schilpp, South Abington Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, at home.
Born Jan. 20, 1937 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James A. and Grace Rothweiler Schilpp. He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and served as an intelligence officer with the Army Reserves during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Prior to retirement, he was director of bulk salt operations for Akzo Nobel in Clarks Summit.
Jim was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid reader. He had interest in military history and collecting toy soldiers. In his earlier years, he was active in the local equestrian community.
Surviving are five children: Merilee Controne, Miramar, Fla.; Andrew Schilpp, Wall, N.J.; Evan Schilpp, Clarks Summit; Taylor Schilpp, Clarks Summit; and Sydney Schilpp, Dalton.A memorial service was held Monday at the Lawrence E.
