September is a month of both beginnings and endings. It’s the end of summer, and the beginning of fall. It’s the end of a student’s summer break, and the beginning of a new and exciting school year. For us at the Dalton Community Library, we are thankful for the wonderful summer activities that have come to an end, but look forward to the beginning of new sessions of our programs in September.

The fall sessions of our two children’s programs, Story Time and Kid’s Crew, will begin in mid-month. The first fall Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15. We will listen to stories, review colors, numbers and letters, dance a little, sing a little and talk about whatever seems fun during this time. There are always a lot of giggles and smiles during this program. It is for any child who’s not yet in elementary school. Story Time is a sharing time and gives the children a chance to interact with others while learning.

If you would like to be added to our Story Time emailing list, which includes preschool library news, send your email address to JFamiletti@albright.org, and mark you calendars for this fun preschool program every Tuesday throughout the fall.

Kid’s Crew will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15. During this session, we will use one of the kids’ favorites, K’nex. We will use our imagination and building skills to make many creations. We also will do fun crafts, card playing, game playing and art. We have a huge variety of activities planned for Kid’s Crew. This group is for boys and girls in first grade through fifth grade. The program is approximately one hour long and will be held every Tuesday. Many of our older kids like to come in to help the younger ones. Peer to peer help and encouragement makes our Kid’s Crew a wonderful experience after school on Tuesdays.

Remember, our usual morning programs will also continue this fall. Mahjong is at 10 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Bridge group plays at 10 a.m. Tuesdays. There are book clubs, a knitting group and our program, “Casual Chat.” The Casual Chat meetings are at 4 p.m. Tuesdays. This group is an easy-going group that has conversations about a variety of topics.

New members are encouraged for all our programs and we invite anyone interested to come check them out.

For all students returning to school in September, we wish you an exciting and fun school year. Make some fantastic beginnings.
