DICKSON CITY — Celebrity readers, entertaining characters, fun craft activities, and a free book to take home is what the Northeastern Pennsylvania Reading Association (NPRA) will provide for kids during an annual event, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 in the center court at the Viewmont Mall.

The free event offers children of all ages a chance to enjoy listening to TV and radio celebrity readers and community personalities read their favorite children’s book. Some of the readers include the Nittany Lion, Railriders Quills, Champ, Penguins Tux, a Rock Star, Zookeeper Amos McGee, Junie B. Jones and the Cat in the Hat.

Every child who listens to a story receives a free book and a chance to win a drawing by the reader for additional book prizes. Students majoring in education from the local colleges will be on hand with a variety of crafts for the kids to make.

After his visit to the Harford Fair, RailRiders mascot Champ plans to be one of the celebrities from the community entertaining and reading to children at Reading Time at the Mall, sponsored by the Northeastern PA Reading Association (NPRA), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Viewmont Mall.
