Robin P. Ertl, Ph.D., assistant professor of science at Marywood University, instructed students in his environmental health class to find an environmental issue they were passionate about, develop a proposed governmental solution to the problem, then present their proposals to Congressman Matthew Cartwright, Representative for Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. In response, Cartwright informed attendees on the political reality of addressing those environmental issues in Congress. From left, are Peter Inirio, of Scranton, senior biology major; Ertl; Cartwright; Austin D. Fernandez, of East Hanover, N.J., senior nutrition and dietetics major; Chloe N. Maloney, of South Abington Township, junior marketing major; and Christian F. Rainey, of Clarks Summit, senior pre-med student.
