SCOTT TWP. — Lakeland Jr/Sr High School’s seventh grade Library Science class recently researched hot air balloons and constructed their own out of tissue paper. Before students launched their creations, they were treated to a hands-on lesson in ballooning by Technology Ed teacher Anthony Saxton, who owns Endless Mountains Hot Air Balloons, Inc. Students were shown the physics behind balloon flight as part of Lakeland’s STEM initiative.

Taking in a hands-on lesson on the physics of hot air balloons are Lakeland Jr/Sr High School students, from left, Maria Merrigan, Mariah Loughney, Lindsay Jones and Liberty Stefalo.
