WAVERLY — The Voluntary Action Center at the Waverly Community House (Comm) will offer free tax information and preparation to people 6o years of age or older through the Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program (TCE). The TCE program is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service.

Trained volunteers will prepare and submit the following forms for Lackawanna County residents: Individual 1040, PA Property Tax/Rent Rebates, State Income Tax, PACE and local tax forms.

Taxpayers must be 60 or over, full-time residents of PA for the entire year, must be present (if joint return, both husband and wife must be present), required to bring picture I.D. and social security card as well as all income statements and last year’s return to include all 1099s (including brokerage statements and cost basis for any stocks sold), W-2s, and if there are dependents, the Social Security card for each dependent. The VAC cannot prepare rental schedules or business returns.

Tax preparation is done by appointment only and appointments can be made by calling the Voluntary Action Center, beginning in mid-January, at 570-347-5616.
