Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra sets spring auditions

TUNKHANNOCK — The Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra will begin rehearsals for its spring concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb.12, at the Tunkhannock Area Middle School auditorium.

Musicians who would like to try out should call 570-289-1090 to discuss openings. There are openings for string player chairs in all sections. Wind and brass players should call to see if there are openings. All interested players should inquire.

There will be three concerts this season, the first at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17 at Tunkhannock Area Middle School; the second at 8 p.m. Friday, April 29 at Athens High School and the third at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Abington Heights High School.

The featured pieces for the spring season include the Chorale from the Easter Cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach; the Russian Easter Festival Overture by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; Siegfried’s Journey to the Rhine by Richard Wagner; plus some shorter pieces.
