TUNKHANNOCK — Anyone whose life has been affected by addiction is invited to come out for the second free Celebrate Sobriety at the Movies Night at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 at the Dietrich Theater. Admission, popcorn and soda are all free and door prizes will be given. The movie selection is “Days of Wine and Roses,” with Jack Lemon and Lee Remick.
Free tickets are available at the ticket booth or can be reserved by calling 570-996-1500.
John Fabiseski, event organizer, chose “Days of Wine and Roses” because it shows the downward spiral of the alcoholic.
In the 1962 movie, Joe Clay, played by Jack Lemmon, is a rising young public relations executive when he meets Kirsten Arnesen, played by Lee Remick, a pretty secretary, at a business party. Joe and Kirsten are both ambitious, and they are on the road to success when they fall in love and marry. Soon after, however, Joe coaxes Kirsten to begin drinking with him on a regular basis. Eventually, they are both dependent on alcohol. As a result, their marriage deteriorates and their lives spiral into disaster.
This movie night would not be possible without support from the following organizations and businesses: Wyoming County C.A.R.E.S, Wyoming/Sullivan Treatment Program, Commissioner Tom Henry and Mile Hill Auto Parts, Dunk Inspections, Clearbrook Treatment Center, Morrison Contracting, PS Bank, Attorney Tom Daniels, Mayflower Florist, Ebbs Candy Jar, Downtown Deli, Morrison Salon & Spa, The Freeze, Curry Donuts, Endless Mountains Skydivers, D&L Railhouse, Monzies Floral, Hampton Inn, Newsies Pizza, Seasons Restaurant, The Hair Flair, and J.R’s Hallmark.
