SCRANTON — Members of the Double “R” Twirlettes performed in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday, March 17.
The Twirlettes marched 35 blocks up 5th Avenue and twirled for over 1 million spectators who lined the parade route. They marched past Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This was the eighth consecutive year the Twirlettes were invited to perform in the parade.
The Twirlettes also appeared on IRISH TV since the parade was broadcasted live, for the first time, on television stations in Ireland and the UK . The 2016 lineup included bands and performance troops from across the United States and Europe.
The Twirlettes are under the direction of Kathleen Y. Mercatili.
