NEW MILFORD — The Harford Agricultural Society announced singer/songwriter Chris Janson, who made headlines with his platinum-selling number-one song “Buy Me a Boat,” and the country band Old Dominion, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 in the main arena for the 2016 Harford Fair.

Janson brings a blue-collar, working-class boot-stomping hillbilly swagger to bear on his live performances. He has the utmost respect for traditional country music and the legends that have performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, where he has logged more than 130 appearances, with most of them resulting in standing ovations. He co-wrote Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” which is the highest chart debut of McGraw’s career. In 2015 Janson opened for the likes of Toby Keith and Luke Bryan and joined Blake Shelton on tour in 2016.

The five-member band Old Dominion is known for blending old-fashioned country charm, lyrical wit and rock n’roll grit into radio-friendly hook-heavy pop nuggets. They stand out as a group that formed authentically through the members’ shared love of music and songwriting.

Old Dominion was handpicked to open for Kenny Chesney on his summer’s blockbuster Big Revival Tour and are already pegged for his 2016 outing. The band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in February and is now nominated for two ACM Awards including Vocal Group of the year and New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.

Tickets will go on sale online only at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at harfordfair.com. VIP seats are $50, arena seats are $35 and grandstand seats are $20.
