TUNKHANNOCK — A free movie night will be presented by Wyoming County C.A.R.E.S. at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the Dietrich Theater. Not only is it an opportunity to witness the drug problem by seeing a movie about its dire consequences, but to listen to a panel of those on the forefront of resources for recovery.

The movie featured is “Basketball Diaries,” Jim Carroll’s free fall into the harrowing world of drug addiction, telling the story of a teenager who finds his dreams of becoming a basketball star threatened by his drug addiction. The film is rated R.

Reservations are not necessary, but they are available by calling the Dietrich at 570-996-1500.

Free popcorn and soda will be provided by C.A.R.E.S.

After the showing of Basketball Diaries, there will be a question and answer session with Mike Donahue, of Luzerne and Wyoming County Drug and Alcohol; Barb Landon, of Wyoming County C.A.R.E.S. and Nick and Trish Colangelo, of Clearbrook Treatment Center. C.A.R.E.S. is also identifying people in recovery to complete the panel.
