Lackawanna County Commissioners Bike Safety Fair set for May 14 at PNC Field

SCRANTON — The Lackawanna County Commissioners Patrick M. O’Malley, Jerry Notarianni and Laureen A. Cummings will host the Fourth Annual Bike Safety Fair and helmet giveaway from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at PNC Field, Montage Mountain Road, Moosic.

Three hundred helmets will be given away free-of-charge to the youngsters who attend. Bike safety talks will be presented by local police officials. A bike rodeo is also planned to help the youngsters learn how to navigate in all kinds of weather and terrain.

PNC Bank is the presenting sponsor. Other sponsors include Sickler’s Bike and Sport Shop, Gerrity’s Supermarkets, the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders and Legends Hospitality Management.

In order to receive a helmet at the fair, participants will be required to attend a brief bike safety talk. When the presentation is complete, the children will be able to pick up a helmet.

There will be several fun activities, child finger printing by the district attorney’s office, giveaways and use of the park’s Fun Zone.

Hot dogs will be served, compliments of Gerrity’s Supermarkets.
