Chance of showers, strong winds and frost threat for Sunday

Sunday’s temperatures may have many of us trading in our short sleeved shirts for a sweatshirt Sunday as winds and cooler temperatures enter the Wyoming Valley.

The cold front that moved into the region Saturday and set-up shop. This will give area residents party sunny skies with temperatures only reaching near 50 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain.

The cold front also ushered strong winds for Sunday. Winds will be 15 to 20 mile-an-hour with gusts up to 30 miles-per-hour.

Tonight there is a threat of frost in some areas of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties as temperatures dip down t0 the lower 30s.

The winds will continue into Monday, but the region should see more sun as temperatures climb to near 60 degrees. Monday night temps will decrease to 45 degrees.

The threat of rain showers creeps back into the forecast Tuesday but party sunny skies will enable the temperature to reach 63 degrees. Night time lows will decline to 45 degrees.
