MOOSIC — A dozen kindergartners filed onto the PNC Field Wednesday morning, May 25 to open the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game with the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The students from Tiana Thompson’s class at Summit Christian Academy (SCA) practiced the song for weeks, learning it verse by verse. Every student memorized the words. They then auditioned on Feb. 27 at the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City before a panel of judges. Dressed in red, white and blue, the 5 and 6 year olds sang confidently, loud and clear.

The SCA students were among dozens of people and groups to audition and were overjoyed when they learned a few weeks later they were selected.

The school’s faculty and other students attended the May 25 game in support of the kindergartners.
