SCRANTON — With the support of the Lackawanna County community, Meals on Wheels of NEPA offers programs and services that empower seniors to remain independent and enhance their quality of life. And now, the organization is taking its fundraising efforts to the next level with the hope of impacting even more seniors.

On July 12 to 14, Meals on Wheels of NEPA will participate in the first-ever GIVE65 Event, a 65-hour online giving event to help nonprofit organizations serving seniors raise funds online. Sixty-five nonprofits from 31 states are participating in the inaugural event.

During the GIVE65 Event, Meals on Wheels of NEPA will be raising funds while competing for a financial reward from Home Instead Senior Care Foundation. Financial rewards in the amount of $10,000 will be awarded to a small, medium and large size nonprofit raising the most money or having the most donors participate. Donations of $10 or greater are accepted online at

The 65-hour GIVE65 Event begins at midnight on Tuesday, July 12 and continues until Thursday, July 14. The virtual event is an initiative of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation.
