Free Medicare workshop offered Aug. 9 at Waverly Community House

WAVERLY TWP. — In partnership with the Voluntary Action Center, the Waverly Community House (Comm) will host a free informational Medicare workshop for area residents. “New to Medicare” will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 in the Constance Reynolds Belin Room located in the South Wing of the Comm.

The class is for those who can answer “yes” to any of the following questions:

• Are you turning 65 in the next 12 months?

• Are you considering retiring and not sure of your health insurance options?

• Have you been receiving Disability benefits and will soon be eligible for Medicare?

Created by APPRISE, part of the State Health Insurance Program, the class is designed to explain Medicare options, show participants how to avoid financial penalties, teach individuals how to do a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Drug Plan comparison, explain state and federal programs available for income-qualified individuals to offset costs and answer questions.
