TUNKHANNOCK — Thousands have been treated to Sadie Green Sales Jug Band at River Day, and now fans can meet them up close at the Dietrich Theater Open Mic Night Friday, July 22.

The event is free and open to the public. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m., and Open Mic begins at 7 p.m.

After local talents of all types and ages perform during the open mic portion of the evening, Timothy Walker and Dave Driskell, the duo that make up the Sadie Green Sales Jugband, will take the stage. Their vaudeville style musical act features foot-stomping music of several genres. The duo performs classic rags and traditional jazz along with versions of authentic jug band music. For more than 25 years, their professional career has taken them across the U.S. and Canada, as well as 15 tours to Europe.

The Dietrich Theater has been on their itinerary for 10 years, not only as performers at River Day, but also as artists-in-residence for children and adults in Jammin’ in a Jugband workshops, this summer scheduled at the Dietrich for the week of July 18. Students in these workshops have the opportunity to play their instruments – including spoons and the washtub bass – during River Day at Riverside Park from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23.
